About The Event
OVERVIEW
Good book-keeping is like good house-keeping. It helps to keep everything running smoothly and efficiently and keeps you (and your business) happy and healthy.
A solidly built financial system is like the engine room of any professional design business. Well-formulated book-keeping practices create the foundation for that financial engine.
Whether you tackle the day to day tasks yourself, or you outsource to a professional, it’s essential to have a good understanding of the basic principles of book-keeping.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the technical jargon used by accountants: debits and credits, ledgers, reconciliations, balance sheets…. So, we searched all over Australia to find someone who understands creatives and speaks our language! Our Seminar Session host Lauren Thiel (provide link to website https://www.therealthiel.com/) comes from a creative background, but just so happens to also be good with numbers.
In this Seminar Session, we aim to explain the foundations for best book-keeping practices in a way that everyone will understand. During the session, we will investigate:
- Best Book-Keeping practices for small business, including Lauren’s top tips.
- Methods of record keeping, from manual (shoebox) to spreadsheets (Excel) and cloud-based software (Xero).
- How to best outsource your book-keeping services, including what to look for in a book-keeper.
- Good book-keeping habits.
- Preparing for tax time, including best ways to maximise efficiency (and make EOFY less painful!)
- Best ways of utilising book-keeping reports to truly understand the financial health of your business.
